I managed to do nothing today and I'm exhausted! I have spent the whole day inside, when I had intended to do something else.
But I had a list of things to take care of before I leave on yet another adventure. First and foremost I had to work out our return flight home in December, thanks to La Compagnie abandoning ship in London and canceling all their flights here. I spent way too much time on the phone and on the computer, working out our return trip via Paris, then finding a hotel there for two nights (only one day, though). Then it was on to booking train tickets for our October trip to Spain.
And because I'm leaving on Thursday I wanted to book opera tickets to the English National Opera and the Royal Opera House. Sadly, neither of those panned out. The ENO is doing Don Giovanni, Tosca, and the Pearl Fishers, but they are all sung in English. I just don't know about that. I think I would find it very distracting. And I wanted to see the Royal Opera House's performance of Bellini's Norma, but it is sold out.
I don't want to sound like I'm complaining because I'm not. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity, to have this incredible experience exploring London and beyond. I am grateful every day.
No museums tomorrow, either, but we will be reconnecting with some friends from 40 years ago, and I'm excited about that.
Then I'm off to meet up with my sister in Italy, and my posts will be sporadic for a good part of the month. I won't have my laptop, so we will see how well I do with just my iPad.
