It was a chilly, but very sunny day when we left our flat at noon. We were meeting Brea and Marty at Clapham Junction at 1. While we were on the underground, they announced that there was a suspension of service on the overground railroad between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction. Luckily I have a map of the London transport system downloaded onto my phone and I could see that this suspension was going to affect our route. There was a bit of confusion about what to do, but we got out at Victoria Station and took an overground train from there. It worked out quite well (maybe even faster than our original route) and we were several minutes early.

Marty and Brea picked us up in Marty's car and we drove the short distance to the Fox and Hounds. We were finally going to a pub for Sunday roast. The food was very good, the portions were large, and they included Yorkshire pudding. Delicious but filling. It was our first meal of the day and felt like it would be our last. It was good to catch up with Brea and Marty and to have a distraction from this crazy election. We talked about our upcoming plans. Brea's mom Cathy arrives on November 18, followed shortly after by my daughters. I'm so excited! We have some fun events planned while they're here.

We also talked about our latest plumbing issue, a minor one, not like the disaster of 2012. The drain connected to the garbage disposal is clogged. I tried unclogging it last night with baking soda and vinegar and then Gord tried without success. He then communicated with our landlord who gave us the name of a plumber. Before calling him, Gord wanted to give it another try. So Marty took us to a nearby Asda, a supermarket that is now a subsidiary of Walmart and is very much like that retail giant. There we purchased a plunger and a kitchen drain unblocker.

They dropped us at the station, we made it to Kings Cross in a record 25 minutes only to climb the stairs and discover that it was now pouring rain. And of course we had no umbrellas. It was so sunny when we left we didn't even think about it. We should have known what every Londoner knows, that you don't leave home without one. It was a wet walk home.

Armed with his new plunger, Gord attacked the sink again and had it fixed in five minutes! He didn't even need the chemical unblocker.

I made us a salad for dinner and Gord supplemented his with the little bit of leftover stew from last night.

Again I forgot to take a photo of Marty and Brea.
